about

The title of this track translates from Slovene as simply "Bled and Bohinj." These are lakes in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia, situated at the base of the Julian Alps, with the famous Mount Triglav towering above. Both lakes feature lovely old churches - the Cerkev Marijinega Vnebovzetja (Church of the Assumption of Mary) on a small island in the middle of Lake Bled, and the Cerkev Sv. Janeza Krstnika (Church of St. John the Baptist) on the shore of Lake Bohinj. The work is divided into 2 parts - the initial statement of the theme by solo cello evokes morning sunrise on Lake Bled, then the more expansive orchestral section with flugelhorn melody evokes the grandeur of Lake Bohinj and Mount Triglav.
