about

The title of this track translates from the German as "Traveling Over Loiblpass."
The Loiblpass is literally a mountain pass, a road that winds through the karst mountain range that forms part of the border between southern Austria and northern Slovenia.
The piece is separated into roughly 3 sections - the opening chamber group featuring piccolo, solo horn and solo cello, is evocative of the initial approach near Ferlach, the 2nd half evokes the winding climb through the rocks and forests, and the final 3rd section represents the descent towards Podljubelj, Slovenia.
